Diving Report - September 2013 Added September 23, 2013
There have not been any competitions this last couple of months so there are no results to give out this time. The next competition is next weekend  - The Scottish Novice Levels competition is in Edinburgh at the Royal Commonwealth Pool on Saturday 22nd September. There should be roughly 15 divers taking part from the district which is the most we have had competing which shows that diving is increasing in numbers in the area.

We have also had 3 more coaches sit their UKCC Level 2 Diving Coaches course within the district, 2 of which are coaches within DCA, so fingers crossed they will be successful in passing.

The new diving pool at Olympia is great and the divers are settling into it well, my only concern is the lack of dry training facilities. At the old Olympia we had the use of the activity room to warm up and stretch before dive sessions but currently we are having to warm up beside the car park outside which now due to dark nights and the wet weather, will no longer be possible. I have approached Olympia as there is a gym free from 8pm but we were told when we enquired to use it that they were not letting it out for the first 6 months. More enquiries are still taking place so hopefully I will have an update for the next report.

Diving Report - February 2013 Added February 24, 2013
The first Scottish Novice Levels Diving competition of 2013, kicked off in Edinburgh at the Royal Commonwealth Pool on Saturday. Out of the 55 divers taking part, 8 divers from Midlands District brought home 6 medals – 3 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze.

In the Novice Level 2, Ryan Jennings (8) and Samantha Stockman (10) both took gold in the 8-11yrs boys and girls age groups. In the Novice Level 1, Michael King (10) brought home silver in 8-11yrs and Cailean McLeod (11) and Farquhar MacDougall (12) finished 6th and 7th in 12-18yrs boys. Alix Small (12) took the gold, Lisa Low(14) silver and Caitlin McLeod (14) bronze in the girls 12-18yrs.

The next Scottish Novice Levels competition is to be held in Dundee on 2nd March.

Two members of Dundee City Aquatics have also sat their UKCC Level 1 Diving Coaches qualification and although have not had the results yet, I have had positive feedback that they have done well.

Where I had concerns that there would be no diving facilities when the old Olympia closed, and for the two weeks before the new Olympia opened, I have been assured that we would get pool time in the form of testing the new facilities.
